I really don't want to offend him but my kid is REALLY bad at drawing

how do i tell him his art sucks and that he should pursue other hobbies? (he's 5 so i'm trying not to hurt his feelings as he actually thinks his drawings are good)

Holy cow he's a 5 year old kid playing not applying for a college loan to major in art. Little kids are in awe of anything that they can do as they develop. Besides you as a parent should be the voice of encouragement for your child. There will be more than enough in the world to discourage him as he gets older..

hahahah, ok well first things first... your kid is only 5, of course his art is gonna suck, the main thing for you to do is NOT tell him that, encourage him to draw more, buy him how to draw books, when i was 5 years old i was scribbling and calling it art... i really did suck, but now i am 19, and i run my own home based art business, i get phone calls and emails from people requesting pictures, my drawings are very good if i do say so myself, so you see if your kid has an intrest, encourage it, never say something of theirs isnt good because it could crush their creativity and imagination. Please dont try and get him to do other things, just try and make him better, it may take a few years but you may be very impressed in the long run :)

Don't tell him, Just Encourage him to keep practicing more so that his art gets better..

art is an expression of the soul in my view there is no good or bad art.different people like different art.how would you feel if somebody told you that you sucked at the one thing that you enjoyed.plus he's only 5 years of age, for christ's sake leave him alone.he should be encouraged not hindered by his family.

He is only 5 good lord!

He will probably get better, and if not, so what? It is what he wants to do and if he likes it, let him.

To a 5 year old kid I would always tell them their drawings are beautiful.

It will up their self esteem and I really do not think they are considering a career choice.
