How Do I Tell My Friend That He Is a Better Poet than Songwriter?

My friend JAred thinks that he can write songs, but honestly if you rea them it sounds like poetry. Just the wording he uses and stuff. Like he thinks he can write metal songs and stuff but in all hoensty his attempts are suckish. How do I tell him that without sounding rude?
 
Just try to make him feel good and confident then you don't have to tell him that his songs sound like poetry. just show him some poetry then tell him that he is a lso a very good poet then he will later find out
 
Be nonchalant about it. Like when he's telling you about the songs, just be like "You know you would be a great poet" or "Wow it almost sounds like poetry" and other comments like that. Don't over-do it though because then he will probably think you don't like his songs or something. Eventually though he should catch on to what you're saying.
