Okay, so I bought a 2000 SE Mazda Miata MX 5...
We bought it cheap, even thought it's in good condition.
The owner stated the dealership had told her it had blown a rod, and was low on oil. They did not specify what kind of rod. They just recommended the engine be replaced, and were very vague as to the exact problem.
She explained to us, that the "check engine" had come on, but the dealership said it wasn't anything to worry about.
A day later, she drove the car less than a mile downhill, and her a strange "pinging" noise, and decided to pull over. Then, she got back in and tried to drive again, and the car died.
What could be the problem, and how would I go about fixing it?
