How do i talk to her?

I get the point oof finding things in common and using them to start up a bright conversation but that only can happen in a perfect world because everyone knows that you dont do everything the same when you are in love. I am the most intelectual person in my class and i dont get why i cant get myself to do some of the stuff i feel i want to do like talk to her and ask her out~ i dont get how to talk to her without sounding like a total loser trying to hit on her(even though then i might factor in the guilt ) but still i dont get how to strike up a good conversation with her
