how do i take the tranny out of a 2001 dodge 2500 cummins?

i got a 2001 dodge 2500 with the 24v cummins. i think that my transmission is broke but only 5th and 6th gear. i say this because the other day i was driving home and all of a sudden the tranny popped out of 6th and wen i went to put it back in gear it started to grind like crazy. but i drove it home ok in 4th because 5th did the same thing. i didnt crack or leak anything cause i looked but i have pressure in my clutch but its not working rite and now the tranny is stuck in 5th. is there a certain way on how to take the tranny out? is it something that i can rebild or do i need ta buy a new one? the tranny is a nv5600
