How do I take AVI files and just simply put them on a dvd so I can put them...

...into any computer and watch? I have a lot of anime that I want to get onto dvds/cds [whatever, i have both] before my computer crashes. I don't have a desire to convert but I will if I need to. Could someone tell me the process, please? And maybe leave an email so I can ask you anything extra?

What program do I need? Do I absolutely have to convert? Ect...
