how do i sync w/o windows media player?

my computer is an xp that used to be a 98

i recently got a virus and had to clear my memory

i dumped all the software back in but i lost my label or # or whatever it is

any way without that i cant activate windows which i need to download windows media player

so how do i put music on my mp3 now
