I get the dreaded black toenail syndrome after about four miles of hiking with my year-old boots. A salesman at an outdoor store told me my boots are probably too short for my feet, even though the next size larger let my heels move too much. How do I go about stretching my boots to fit properly, or is this even possible?

Are they leather? If so then buy a shoe stretcher: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&source=hp&q=shoe+stretcher&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=fXDnSsPWF4_hlAfO_bCICA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CC4QrQQwAw

You can also get them at any shoemaker. If they are not leather then you wont be able to stretch them. I`d personally go with another boot.

IF they are a "man-made" material you are out of luck.
IF they are leather, SOMETIMES they can be stretched a little bit. Contact a shoe repair about the problem.

IF the next size larger is a little to big, wear two pair of socks!!
