How do i stop my dog from doing its business on the pavers?

I have just recently brought a puppy, she always poo's on my pavers, i also have another dog who 'was' doing it on the grass but now he also goes on the pavers. my puppy is shocking though she goes right next to her bed, food and water bowl, i dont understand as i thought they normally dont go near their sleeping and eating areas. I also dont believe in smacking animals so please no gentle smack answers or anything like that
