How do I stop arguing?

Me and my best friend like to talk on MSN a lot but we are both quite argumentative and we always argue. I hate it when this happens but I am really fed up with it and I want it to stop. Please help!
 
Just stay quiet! :)

If she tries to start an argument then say "Okay, iknow where this is going so just stop"

Then change the subject :)
