Start at community college, get a counselor, and explain your goals and what you want your major to be, or what you want to do. Prepare to transfer to a four-year university if your dream job requires a bachelor degree.

You will do better, if you have someone pointing you in the right way. .

The biggest setback is that people in community college get in a loop and they don't know how to get to where they want to go.

Good Luck.

I barely graduated from high school last May, not because of grades, it was my attendance. Through-out my junior and senior years in high school I had to watch and take care of my family, for a while it was just my missing my first period to watch my little brother till my mother came home from her night shift work, and I was working a full time job (4-12) and had to walk home from work, my time for homework suffered but I still kept my grades up. Then my senior year I chose to move to take care of my grandfather, who is disabled, while taking care of him and going to school I got in a accident and broke my leg. With no car and still having to take care of my grandfather I dropped out of school and took on a second job. After my leg healed I went back to school, but to graduate in time I had to go to night-school.

Since then my bills for the hospital and such from when I broke my leg have piled up, I still make payments, as much as I can afford, but still have a huge debt, since I didn't have insurance.

In the past year in a half living with my grandfather became even more draining. He had a bout of pneumonia at the beginning of this year and I made plans to move out while he was in the hospital. But he got out sooner then I expected and I now chose to stay here to help him find someone to replace me. Its been a month and the only people who come by are poor choices for people to live with and take care of him.

If I move I will be in a town with a community college and have friends and family to help me with transportation. I have no license and no car. Here with my grandfather there is a state university, but I dont think with my high school record the way it is that I will be able to get accepted to that university and I don't have the money to afford it.

I place my education at a top priorty but, do not even know the first step to take to further it.

I need help from someone but don't even know who to ask or where to find help. any ideas or suggestions would really help. And with my limited resources should I stay and try to go to this universty or go to the community college? I do have a great job helping my grandfather and can save enough to get a used car in about 4 to 6 months. And if its too late to get into the university for the fall semester I may lean toward staying, if I could get in.

Isnt it wrong when the people who want an education sometimes cant have one, and the people who are given it on a plate dont even care about it.

You sound like your from America, Im in the UK and my education is basically free. We get all our money from the government to pay for tuition fee, which is lucky i guess. Look into your local educational centre and see if they can support you financially in any way. I dont know where you live in the states so I cant do any research for you, but I hope you get your own life back soon and do what you want to do.

Good Luck
