Go to your local library and gets some books on starting a small business. There are also local small business associations that you might want to check out. Also, you might want to find a mentor in your profession to help you with advice and contacts.

My nephew wants to do this also. he attends art school in Chicago. His counselors have advised him NO TO DO IT. Starting an 'art' business is exasperatingly difficult at any time, plain impossible in tough times.
