How do I start a vegetable garden!! BEGINNER!?

I want to start a vegetable garden, but don't know where to start!
I have plenty of room to make the garden. I would like to plant potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, asparagus...and I'm sure a few others! HELP ME!!!!
