How do I sign in on aim using google chat on the igoogle home page?

When I go to the google mail page it loads my chat with all my aim contacts and signs me into aim but when I just load the igoogle homepage it signs me in to google chat automatically but none of my aim contacts show up and i dont show up as signed in on my friends aim.
