How do I shift gears on a 2001 Honda 400ex?

I bought this 2001 Honda 400ex like a week ago but I haven't been able to shift gears without stalling! Any tips or techniques that you do so you don't stall? And do you use the clutch only to go into 1st gear and then the rest is automatic or do you have to use the clutch for all 5 gears?
 
to shift gears you let off the gas a little pull in the clutch pull up on the shifter then let out on the clutch and give it the gas. you should be all set. and yes you need to do this for all five gears.
 
once the engine starts hitting high rpms stop giving it gas, pull in and hold the clutch, shift up, let go of the clutch and then give it gas, just practice shifting slowly untill you get the hang of it, and you do this this for ALL gears
