How do I set the media player and internet buttons on my keyboard?

I have a keyboard that came with my HP computer. Both are pretty old, when the computer was new it had Windows 98 ME on it, now it is running on XP, but the Media player keys on the keyboard do not work, the play and stop buttons work fine, but the Next track button when hit brings up the calculator, and the previous button doesn't work at all. What do I do, is there something special that I need to do to program it or what?

Also, the keyboard has some internet buttons on it, but they don't work either is there something I can do to fix this?

The interface for the keyboard is PS/2, if that makes any difference.
