Hey, so i have amp hooked up to dual 12" subwoofers, and i want to know how to get the most out of my amp. the problem is, that when i set the gains, my amp calls them "levels" the amp goes into protection mode, but the power its putting out is nowhere near enough to pump the subs very hard, let alone get them near clipping distortion levels. the reason this is so confusing is all the different controls my amp has on them, here is a list from left to right along my amp:
HPF dial; X-over switch that has two options (HPF or FULL); "level"; then its my rca imputs; "level'; X-over switch that has two options (LPF or FULL); LFP dial
just to try and avoid confusion the HPF LPF and levels dial are ones that can be turned like an analogue clock from 7 o'clock to 6o'clock if it were a clock face, 7 lowest, 6 highest
so i dont really know how to have each dial and switch to get my amp pumping out the most power, if i have it set a certain way it will go into protect on really low levels, while other settings will give a bit more power before it cuts out. i have a kinda basic knowledge of what HPF and LPFs do, but i fail
so i dont know how to set them up, if someone could please tell me the best way to adjust all the dials and switches to achieve maximum power that would be brilliant, thanks.
also, i previously had the exact same amp that pumped really hard setup right, but i exchanged it for the exact same new one, but i cant remember the settings (FML). AND when i adjust the equaliser on my headunit, like turn up the bass it cuts out earlier, same with the volume, the head unit is pretty basic and doesnt have an eq for the bass, its just the same for all the speakers and the subs, also it doesnt have sub specific RCAs, just normal ones, and the amp can be either a speaker or sub amp, but i want it set up just for subs, thanks
