How do I send a photoshopped image to someone's email address?

I made a took a picture and photoshopped some effects into it. I've tried to save it as bmp, jpeg, psd... but nothing seems to be able to be sent to email addresses or as a message in facebook. What do I need to do?

If it is a jpg then that should do, unless it is a very big image and it is getting stripped out because of it's size.
