How do I save PC game results to a CD so I can use after my system recovery?

I have a 2005 computer and need to do a system recovery using my recovery disks. My son has some Roller Coaster Tycoon games on the pc I would like to save and put back on the pc after the recovery. How can I do this? And can I use a DVD-RW CD? Also, if I can do this, how do I get it back on the computer after the recovery? I'm not a computer person at all!
