How do I rip my backup music on my DVD+RW disc to windows media player?

What I originally wanted to do was modify my various KBPS music to a 128 KBPS 44100 Hz. To standardize me collection to ease space in my hard drive. I bought a DVD+RW disc or two and made a backup copy of all the music with the album art. Now when I inserted the disc it did not show there was a CD disc in the disc player to rip music. Was the 1.5 hour music transfer from CPU to DVD+RW disc a waste of time? I know I can use CD+RW discs but that would take more time I would care to use. I don't want to pay for a product to do this but it there is no other alternative around this I suppose I wont have a choice but to buy a product like an audio converter. Thanks! God bless! Thanks for the read too!
I don't want any DVD software. I bought a DVD+WR for the extra space so I can collaborate all my music then put it back into my CPU in 128 KBPS 44100 Hz. I want to free up space.
