how do I replace the headlight bulb on my 71 yamaha r5?

My shop manual shows and describes a process for removing the bulb from the back of the lens. BUT... The bulb is in reality too big to come out! I am wondering if it's a sealed beam. If so are round sealed beam headlights relatively universal?
