How do I remove the red layer on Photoshop CS4?

I drew a picture traditionally with ballpoint pen: sketched with red ink, lined with black. I scanned it into Photoshop CS4. How do I digitally remove the red part of the sketch, but leave the black lines?

I heard that you can remove it by "removing the red layer on Channel"- how do I do this?
