How do I remove the 6680 faceplate?

Yeah, its pretty simple. Take off the battery cover... then you have to remove the rear camera lens cover. I have a "special" tool for this, its basically a screw driver or pick with a bent tip to get under the two tabs... Pull those tabs out and lift the camera cover off, then you remove the front cover... After you've done it once, you'll be able to do it in about a minute or less....

Not sure what to tell you. Getting the battery cover off is simple. Remove the battery.

Then look at the rear camera cover... where the edge of the battery seats, you'll see the two tabs that hold that cover on, you have to lift those to remove that rear camera cover. Like I said, I've got a tool that helps do this, but all it is, is a "ice pick" or screw driver with a bent tip... get a small screw driver and a pliers and bend the tip, then you can stick the tip under the tabs and lift them to remove the rear cover.

Once you get the rear cover off, you'll see there are 2 more tabs on the top near the speaker that you have to lift to remove the front cover- you'll be able to remove those with your finger nail most likely- they are easy to get to, as they are under the rear cover - and once its off - you can actually see and touch them.

You gently pull the front cover off the phone itself, it will snap off and away, and you're good. I'll try and make a video for you if I can.

This should help

1. Take off the back cover and the battery.

2. Carefully pull out the two clips using your tool of preference.

3. Push the two top corners forward.

4. Using your fingers, carefully swivel out the sides and pull out the front cover.

5. You're done!

Thank you so much! I've been looking for a guide like this so I can replace my 6682's housing. This will work on a 6682 just like the 6680, right?

THANK YOU! I had a hrad time finding the "tool of my choice" but I got it, and it looks awesomer than before, thanks every1 for the help.

Here are some tips.

Housing from this place are pretty good

I got a black one and its very good. Almost looks OEM had a small fault but it was easy to fix.

As for keypads I recommend to avoid them I got this one and it fits ok on the standard OEM housing but on others its a bad fit. Also at the bottom the lights shine right threw. It dosent look cheap in pics but once light shines threw it does.

Not a big loss for 10$ CAD.

Thanks for the pictorial on changing faceplates

Just took of my company case and put in the gray/maize. Will be getting black soon enough.

Can you post a picture of your phone with black (preferably with and without the black keypad)?

Can you tell that the faceplate isn't OEM?

Thanks

By default you know its not OEM cause they dont make black OEM but other then that beside a slight fault its pretty close. Here are some pics click on them to enlarge. Sorry not the best camera around

I've heard from a friend of mine that changing the faceplates by yourself voids the warrenty. ask nokia they will tell you the same thing, the 6680/81/82 arent designed with xpress on covers like the 6630,6230 etc..

It doesn't since it wont cause damage to the main phone and also there is no way for them to tell it was done if you put back the oem one if needed to use the warranty

what "tool of choice" are ya'll using to remove the top of the back?? I can't find anything to get ahold of those little clips! When I pulled the OEM housing off, i demolished it (didn't care since it had Cingular on it) but i wanna save my black one for later use.
