how do i relieve tension on the tension pulley for a 98 toyota 4 runner 3.4 liter?

well on my 98 chevy silverado its a square hole on the belt tensioner and you just put a socket wrench on it without a socket, mine uses a 1/2 inch drive socket wrench, yours might use a 1/4 inch but most likely a 1/2 inch, just put the square part of the wrench where you'd put a socket in the square hole of the tensioner and crank down on it
