How do I qualify for financial aid? Any tricks of the trade?

Im really interested in attending a private college for vocational nursing, just so i can be done in 15 months and start working. But when I visited the school, they told me it would cost $28,000 because i didnt qualify for financial aid, due to the fact that I made too much money last year. What the hell? Because I worked hard and made a decent wage? Or because i dont have any kids or dependants, i am not granted financial aid? I am currently unemployed now and really want to get into this field and not wind up in a dead end job.

being married and having dependents helps off set the amount of money you made to what it takes to live to qualify for financial aid. You can still qualify for financial aid being single with no dependents .

did you tell the school you are not currently working? sometimes with additional paper work they can work with something like that. Also there are some banks and credit unions such as Wells Fargo that offer private student loans for those who do not qualify for financial aid. You can try applying for a student loan with them to pay for school.
