How do I program a phone that is still under someone else's account to mine?

I got a phone from a pawn shop, they just got it in, and its still activated under someone else's account, and of course no one knows the account holder. I called Verizon, and they said since its still activated under that persons account, they (meaning the last owner) would have to deactivate their phone, or switch to a new phone... How do I find a loop hole? Please help!!! I need this phone sooo bad right now. By the way its a driod is that means anything.
