Ok, so I have a dark green JanSport backpack and I want to paint it black. I have black acrylic craft ink, so will acrylic craft ink work for painting fabric? I'll mix a bunch of water in with it, but would that still work for fabric because I'm not sure if when the paint dries, if it would make the fabric all stiff or still flexible, so I'm not sure. Please help.

You should probably look for fabric paint, acrylic paint will work in the short term but is will probably start flaking off as you use it, or depending on the fabric the backpack is made out of you could try dying in with black dye.

I don't know about acrylic ink, I've never used that. I'd be more apt to try dying it black with a fabric dye, or getting a fabric medium to mix with your paint and then applying it.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just buy a black backpack in the first place?

You can buy a paint additive to turn your acrylics into fabric paint. Otherwise, it may not adhere properly. I think it's called fabric medium. You should be able to get it at craft stores.

When you put acrylic paint on fabric especially a large area it makes it smaller and tighter. I would not do that. I think it will be hard to get an even black on the backpack.
