how do i paint MDF black?

i just got building a sub box and now i want to paint it black.
it's made out of MDF (medium density fiberboard).
i want to paint it with ,y spray gun if i can but i dont know what kind of paint i need to use.

help?

i can brush paint it if necessary.

best bet would make sure it has a smooth surface or it looks crap
