How do i paint a fiberglass kayak?

Hi everyone,
Im wanting to paint my kayak, to a similar colour style as to my car, red with a gold undershine, can anyone give me some suggestions as to how i can do this, and what sort of paint i would need
 
Like painting anything else, you first need to give the entire hull a light sanding so that the paint will adhere well. Since your kayak doesn't sit in the water all summer, just about any kind of exterior grade paint will work, depending on how pretty you want your kayak to look when you're done.

Many DIY'ers have achieved very good results with a product called Awlgrip. I put the website in the source link. Awlgrip makes a high gloss, durable finish but it's more expensive than normal paint. There are many other tips on the Awlgrip website under 'Application Guidance'.

If you want to have a true professional finish (like a new car) you would be best to take it to a professional. Any auto body shop should be able to give you a price on painting your kayak.
