How do i Mod an Xbox 360? Pros and Cons?

Ok so I want to Mod My Xbox 360, well I want to just modify my games. How do i do that? and also what the Pros.....No whats the CONS. Like I just want to modify the game for personal use. Not to get achievements or anything. Just to play a game...but modified. My friend said I could do it with a transfer cord or something and i dont need a chip...
