How do I measure the RMS of my standard speakers?

I'm from the UK and I have a 2003 Ford Focus. Basically I installed an aftermarket head unit, and am now looking at upgrading my speakers.

My new head unit claims it can take 4 x 45w, so I want to know if it's really worth me upgrading. I want to know the RMS of my standard speakers to see how much I would benefit.

For example, if I knew how to tell my speakers RMS, and they were 40w RMS, then there's not really much need for me to upgrade, however, if they were 25w RMS, then I would notice a difference.

I do have a Multi-Meter which measures low amps (0-10?), volts and resistance if that helps.
