How do I measure my cars alternator output?

I'm from the UK andI have a 2003 Ford Focus. I am looking at putting a fair bit of audio equipment in my car, but am worried my alternator might not be able to handle it.

Is there a way of measuring the output of my alternator, or a website which lists standard alternator's outputs? This way I can roughly see if I need to upgrade my alternator.

I do have a multi-meter which measures low ampage (0-10?), low voltage and resistances.
