I have a 2 channel amp with 200 watt peak power, but i get confused when i look at the RMS for speakers. The speakers i want have 260W Peak power. Should i get speakers with a lower peak power then the max for my amp or does it not matter?

Kyle take the guess work out of it. Why in the world are you even bothering to look at peak power? Peak means nothing here in the real world. If you want to know how many watts to run to anything look at the RMS wattage rating, nothing else. The only other thing that you need to be concerned with is the OHM load of the amp, is it going to give you 100 watts per channel at 2 or 4 OHM's? Remeber your full range speakers are going to be 4 OHM's and no you can not wire those down to 2 OHM's. Let's say that you have 100 watt rms speakers and they are 4 OHM's, then your amp is going to have to deliver you 50 watts rms per channel at 4 OHM's.

IGNORE PEAK POWER COMPLTELY

ONLY look at RMS.

peak power is like.. for example, you're listening to a rock song, and the whole band just gets really loud for a second, trhe drums make a big boom, the singer is screamin hardcore... thats the peak power. thats just what the speaker can do momentarily.
