I'm wondering how I can convert my clay car into a stronger material and what material that should be so that i can have a scale model that i can move around and paint and stuff. I spent a lot of time tracing all the body panels with saran wrap and then transferring them onto tracing paper, and then that to a sheet of aluminum. I cut out all the parts and taped them together. My plan was to cover the mass in car body filler and then sand it down and paint it. but its not working out quite as i had initially hoped. the aluminum is just too rigid. its not bending and the car is too boxy, it just cant capture the detail i put into the clay. what methods would you recommend for building a scale model of a car, OR for turning a clay sculpture into another material (i.e. casting a mold and filling it with plastic, wrapping it with plaster bandages. etc.) what methods won't ruin it?
