how do i make my honda prelude faster?

in other words how do i make it have better performance with it still being legal.
please be specific on what i should do first and last
its a 1993 honda prelude s automatic
i just want to give it a kick and even maybe alittle bit more but have it street legal still.
p.s. i dont street race i just like fast cars
 
best thing you can do is service you car, well. You'll be surprised how much a good tune up can do in recovering lost power.

cold air intake
exhaust
ecu
and make it lighter (take can out extra seats, spare tire, a/c, audio, etc, lighter rims can't hurt)

honestly all of that will only result in 10-20 horsepower to the wheels. If you really want a "fast car" try getting a turbo charger that's legal in your state, or getting a different car.
 
depending on your budget. You can increase the head size, but you also need to get new pistons (increasing displacement) increasing torque. Change your computer chip to a modifiable one where you can program it to what ever you feel you need this will only give you 10 to 20 horsepower to help you get your high revs faster but it won't increase torque. Putting a new exhaust system with higher flow, but this also might not make it meet emissions. You can add a turbo but you will also need an inter cooler, new exhaust, use higher grade gasoline.
 
The answer to making your car faster is a pragmatic one:

Lighten the car: take out anything that is unnecessary for driving or safety.

Raise the horsepower and torque: this can be achieved through aftermarket accessories or transmission or engine modifications

Reduce as much drag as possible
