My best friend recently finished his contract with a different company. Now he wants me to open a line for him on my family plan. The thing is he doesn't have good enough credit to open one on his own. How do I draw up a contract for him so that in case he doesn't live up to his promise I can enforce it on him or take him to court?

If you're smart, you don't put him on your plan at all! If he has wacked out his credit, chances are he'll have little concern for yours. If he runs up a big overage bill you are responsible to the carrier regardless of any agreement between the two of you. If he "recently finished his contract" means he has a carrier that he should stick with, because regardless of his credit rating as long as he stays current on what he owes them, they're not going to disconnect him. Also, for those with bad credit there are a lot of pay as you go plans such as the "GO PHONE" or "CRICKET" that he can get. If you believe it a possibility that you may have to enforce an agreement in court, it isn't very wise to enter into that agreement in the first place.

Its not a good idea to put someone else on your credit. If he has bad credit, why would he pay you, if he hasn't paid the other bills...
But if you must:
Make a contract yourself and both sign it. State when he is to pay, how much (and make sure to include overages). Have him give you a deposit, so if something was to happen, you have enough money to pay for the cancellation fee (typically $175).

Just type up something on your computer and Put I______ (his name) promise to pay ______(your name) monthly for the cell phone line that is added. I promise to pay her every month for any of my charges till my line has been terminated

_____ date

_______his signature

and then keep a copy....scan one and keep it on your computer as well just incase.
