hi, i want to use a clip art i found on the internet to print on a t-shirt. the clipart is 72 ppi and i need to change it to 300 ppi for printing. but when i do that the edges really get jagged, sharp points get dull and the clipart, basically becomes unusable for my picky taste. is there a way to maintain size and sharpness?

am i in the right section for this question?

Basically, you can't. All of the "information" the image contains in it those existing pixels. Just by increasing the number of pixels, it will not add any more information. All it does is make bigger, jagged edges and curver.

For example, if you were to, simply double the number of pixels per inch, the result would be to replace one pixel with four more of the exact same color. Sure, there are more pixels per inch, but each will just look like one giant pixel.

No software exists that will be able to tell if a "bump" on the edge of a subject is REALLY a bump, or just a jagged pixel. No software in the world will be able to go back in time to retrieve the missing information.

The best you can do is to recreate the original clip art by redrawing it at the resolution you'd like. Yes, it's a lot of work, but this is one operation for which there is no shortcut.
