How do I know if my phone is symbian?

I wanted to add the vyke freetxt application but their site says it only works on Sybian phones. I have an alcatel ot-800 but have no idea if it's symbian

is there a way to check? I've googled it but haven't found anything
 
Go to manufacturer's web sire (usually something like www.manufacturer_name.com) and check their products. Once you find yours, check device's specifications and see if they mention Symbian.

Alcatel never made smartphones though so the answer would be no, your phone is not a smartphone and it is certainly not using Symbian.
