How do I keep grass out of my garden?

It's the first time ever we've had a garden and it's BIG ONE. LOL! We did plow right in the back of the yard where there was plenty of grass and I do understand that we risked grass returning but how, from now on, do we keep it out? If we plow over and over for the next seasons, will it eventually just not grow? Should we put hay around the vegetables, etc.? I don't want to use harmful chemicals (non-organic) or weed killer around the food.

In the fall till it, let it get sun for a few day than go over it again. In spring cover with a tarp 3 weeks before planting most of grass weed seed and such will be gone but you will always have weeds that is part of the garden unless you put a heavy much around the plants.
