How do I keep a fish alive, without a trip to the store? Is there a common plant...

...that produces oxygen? I bought a fish and I would like to keep it in a vase with my bamboo plant for decoration, and I was wondering if there is an easy way to put oxygen in the water, like a common plant I can also stick in the water? PS I don't want to go to the store, is there anything I can use around the house?
PS I do have an aquarium it is living in right now, Lizzie. It's OK. I am not THAT evil !

It's going to die--you have not cycled the thing. You don't buy an animal without having ap roper home. No fish can live in vase--they must have an aquarium with a filter and a heater or just afilter if they're colrwater [minnows are your only option, but they need 20gal+] Don't buy a fish ever again. Return that fish so it has a chance of living.

Is it a betta? Because they don't need oxygen in the water. They can get air from the surface because they have a lung chamber. However if you put a betta in a vase I don't give it more than a year to live. No heater + no filtration = no healthy fish.

You can get off your lazy bum and go to the store. Owning pet's are not for people who can't take care of them.

Now, if there is some honest and legit reason as to why you can not go to the pet store at this moment in time, fill a large container (at least 5 gallons or more) with dechlorinated tap water or even bottled drinking water and put the fish in there. It will survive a while depending on what type of fish it is. Either way, you need a proper sized tank with filtration and if it's a tropical fish, heating as well.
