How do I hookup with guys in the gym?

I'm 23 and I live in a medium size city, I've been working out since high school so I'm pretty built. There's a bunch of guys at my gym and coming from college I know that there are masculine gay guys out there.....I really wanna hookup with some guys ! This one guy was staring at me when I was walking past him so I gave him a 1/2 smile then he raised his eyebrows at me quickly, then looked away ( I swear he looked toward the other 'jocks' ) to see if they saw him...I'm not sure, I didn't get a chance to talk to him but I see him in the gym alot....what should I say/do to see if he's down for messing around, like what steps should I take? I'm a nice guy so I don't wanna get stuck in the "friend zone" I wanna get laid lol !
