How do i hook up stereo speakers to my computer?

I want to use my stereo speakers on my computer, i hope this is even [possible to do! I dont know much about computers or stereos but the speakers are seperate and are held in the stereo by red and black wires, STEP BY STEP PLEASE!!!!
I actually have computer speakers but they do not sound half as good as my stereo speakers. I know it is possible to connect the speakers to the computer.
 
Ok dude . You must buy a connection cord first . I forgot the name . mmmm. The cord where at both sides it has a red white and yellow input . After you get the cord , which u can find at walmart or best buy . Then on your stero reciever u have to hook up the cord where ever it has a free space . Such as , VIDEO 1 VIDEO 2 ect..... Afterwards u must hook up the other end to the headphones input on your computer . Then u must put on ur reciever and put the number video of wat u put the cord on . NOTE THAT SOME STEROS THERÈ MIGHT NOT BE AND VIDEOS INPUTS IT MIGHT BE NAME SOMETHING ELSE .... Finally , turn up the volume all the way on ur computer thenn raise the volume on ur reciever .
