I may have a PVR now, but I will sometimes want to record a VHS or watch some old home movies.
How do I hook-up my BELL HDPVR so I Can record and/or watch through my bell PVR?

Also, is there a jack where i can hook up my shaw PVR on my bell PVR.

Can I like use a splitter or something so that I could have the option to record on my bell PVR through the VCR, and with another set of jacks, I could record through the shaw PVR, (My VCR Has 2 A/V Cable Inputs.
And here's where the splitter comes in, Can I split the signal on my SHAW HDPVR so that I can hook-up a cable to the 'CABLE IN' on my VCR?

Is this skittish sequence of jobs possible?

Any replies are welcome,
Thanks,
Kittyman!

Whoa, you've got a lot there. If you've got a Shaw PVR, here's the post you want.

Now, if you also want to hook up a BTV PVR it'll be tricky since the VCR probably only has one set of inputs for say composite video, which would be used by the Shaw PVR. You could certainly get a composite switch, which would allow you to hook both up to it and then one line to the VCR. Or you could use the RF-coax out of the Shaw STB to the RF-coax input on the VCR and then record "channel 3", however, that signal will be mono sound and have less quality than the composite/analogue audio inputs. Also, if you only have one RF-coax input, then you wouldn't be able to record analogue cable as discussed in the first link I provided.

I hope you can follow all of that and I hope I've deciphered your original intention properly. If not, please advise.

If you're not familiar with the terms used for cables, please see:

You may wish to invest in an inexpensive DVD recorder - those usually have a number of inputs on the back and you could use S-video for Shaw and composite for BTV and the RF-coax for analogue cable recording directly... A DVD recorder in its best recording mode would also have twice the resolution of a standard VCR.

I have no idea why this was posted in the StarChoice forum, so I've moved it to BTV.

Hello guys,
How do I wire my DVD Recorder to work with my bell PVR?
So, here's what i have:

- 2-Way BGI Splitter
-DVD Recorder
-SHAW HDPVR
-VCR
-4 COAXIAL CABLES
-A SIGNAL AMP
-Composite Cables
-A/V Cables
-BELL HDPVR
Here's what I want to do:

I Want to wire my Shaw PVR to my DVD Recorder using a set of composite cables and hook up a 2 way splitter to let a cable go into the AMP, then wire the 2 way splitter from 'out' on the Amp and 'IN' on the 2-way splitter and than wire 1 cable to the Shaw PVR, than wire another to the "ANT IN" on the DVD Recorder. Once I've done that, I want to take my VCR and then use the 'OUT' on the DVD Recorder and wire a coaxial cable from there to the 'ANT IN' on my VCR. I Want to then use a coaxial cable to my DVD VCR's 'ANTENNA IN'; then i want to wire a Coaxial Cable from my VCR's "TV IN" Then, I want to wire my BELL HDPVR to my DVD Recorder using my other set of Composite cables on my DVD Recorder.

Will this work?

i thought this wouldn't work because of the macrovision copy protection built into the PVR?

Everything seems to make sense, however I have no idea what the following sentence means. You can't go "from" an input, you don't tell us where that cable's going, and you don't have a DVD VCR, unless there's something you're not telling us.

Perhaps you could draw up a diagram and post it here.

mickk. There is no macrovision on PVRs. There is CGMS-A, which affects some programming and is discussed in the following thread:
