I need to be able to bath and groom my dog and hate the fact that the only time I can get him clean is by taking him to the groomers. His hair is pretty easy to deal with, except for the fact that he never stops moving whenever I try to get him clean, and will bite and run away at any chance he gets. How can I groom my dog, without making him this uncomfortable, or is there any easy way to kind of restrain him (not to sound mean), and get him to settle down?
-Thanks

At a groomers he is probably put on a table with a noose around his neck to help keep him in place. Its not tightened of course, just tight enough he can't slip it over his head. If you try to replicate the conditions he is used to at the groomers you may have more luck. If you don't want to buy a whole grooming table with an arm, you can try putting him on the washing machine or something higher up like that. Just be sure to keep one hand on him at all times so he doesn't try to jump off and hurt himself.

I would really check out either videos or books on how to properly groom your dog. It should be a good experience each and every time. If you cant even keep your dog settled while you touch him you have a problem.

The only suggestion i have for you if you plan on doing it, a high table where the dog cant jump off is a good area to groom him at, however it can be a two person job if you don't know what your doing.
