rear speakers are 6.5".? I have a pioneer 4 x 50 watt head unit and have blown one of my speakers and want to replace all 4 speakers. I would like a basic upgrade that doesn't involve an after market amp (which I know would give the after market speakers more power.) What would you suggest that I do? Would 4 speakers with 20 watt RMS 100 watt max be okay? and what would be the chance of blowing these speakers? Thanks.

Chance are, the head unit is 4 X 50 max. Usually about 4 X 17 - 20 RMS. So, Basically any speaker that is rated between 20 and 50 watts RMS will work well.

As far as the chance of blowing them goes. Just make sure that you give them a clean signal. Most often, the head unit will start to distort the signal when the volume reaches 3/4 of it's capacity. This will cause the voice coils to overheat and eventually burn out. The other main cause of speaker failure is overexcursion. In this case, usually, the bass is to high. This causes the cone of the speaker to move beyond it's safe limits and causes physical damage to the voice coil.

Basically, just keep the volume and bass controls in check and you'll be fine.
