im currently unemployed and collecting unemp. i have no $$ in the bank and my unemployment covers 60% of my bills. i have several physical issues that are pushing me to the edge of complete mental and physical exhaustion and insanity. i applied for Mass Health and was denied b/c i am collecting. i have no options for health ins b/c i simply cant afford it. the pain in my neck and shoulder is driving me crazy, not to mention still dealing with severe ankle pain and plantar faccaitis from my botched ankle surgery 6 years ago how do i get this resolved? i am in Massachusetts.

:(:(

If your pain issues are keeping you from working, you should file for disability ASAP! I think when you do that, you are also eligible to file for medicaid/medicare as well to help cover medical care.

If you are not able to do this, then go to social services and see about getting medicaid or you can get medical care at your local health department. The health departments will charge you for care based on a "sliding" scale. Basically, they will charge you for services based on the amount of money you earn through either a job or your unemployment. If you are unemployed, then it could be you would be charged as little as $5.00 for a visit and even sometimes nothing at all.

There are resources out there for people to get medical care even if they are unable to work and unable to afford insurance.

I hope this helps some.

yes, this helps. what is a local health dept though.... the hospital? i wouldnt say my pain is keeping me from becoming employed, i can still walk, however, it is definately keeping me from being productive. i figure im at ~30% of what i should be mentally.
