How do I get the photos I take on my iPhone onto my computer and vice versa?

I've already tried syncing my iPhone with a particular folder on my computer (Windows Vista) but when I take new photos with my phone they don't appear in the folder unless I move them there manually. Is there a way to move them their automatically when my phone syncs?
 
I don't think it's possible because iTunes doesn't have a feature like that so I don't think that would be possible.
