how do I get the nut off the front of my floyd rose on a Washburn MG-70 Mercury Series?

I recently bought a Floyd Rose tremolo arm and i found out that there is a nut where the arm should go that, for some reason, won't budge. is it possible to remove this nut and if so, how?
