How do I get past the nighttime burst of energy and get my 9 month old to fall asleep...

...without...? ...mom?
Our daughter used to be a great sleeper but lately...she gets a crazy burst of energy right at bedtime. We follow the routine of dinner, short play, bathtime, bottle & nursing with mom singing... to sleep. But lately, she is so wound up that she is practically crawling away from me while I'm trying to nurse, so I put her down in her crib and leave. She CRIES. Then I wait a little, go back in and nurse/sing some more. I would love to put her down before she's fully asleep so she can learn to self-soothe, but that doesn't seem to work. So I either nurse her right to sleep (depending how many visits that takes) or let her CRY herself to sleep. (sadly, she can stand up in her crib now, so she cries standing up looking at the door). This is not a very nice bedtime routine. She naps OK during the day, and bedtime is between 7 and 8 - depending on how the routine pans out. Please help.
