My brother and his wife/my sister-in-law have a 3 year old girl, well my niece in other words. Anyways my SIL never lets me do anything to my niece. I sometimes want to pick out what she wears, what she eats, what she does, but my SIL always says no. She never lets me have the decision, it's always what she wants. Ok I understand that she's the mom, but still I'm the aunt, doesn't that count for anything? I let her marry my brother, and in return this is how she treats me? I want some say in my niece's life too, why is my SIL shutting me out? I know my niece isn't my kid, and that she's her kid, but I'm still family. It's not like I'm trying to take over as the mom, I just want things my way sometimes. My SIL is too controlling of a mother, do you think that's bad? How do I get my SIL to let me have some decisions about my niece?
